Danny Jack "Skip" Smith, 71, of Wyoming, passed into eternal rest on September 26 in Greeley, CO surrounded by his loving family. He was born to Daniel and Peggy (Campbell) Smith in Platteville, CO on February 28, 1946.
Danny was raised and schooled in Platteville, graduating Valley High School in 1964 with academic and athletic honors.
Following two years at Colorado State University and completion of Officers Candidate School in Georgia, he received a U.S. Army officer's commission, serving and commanding a top secret Signal Corps facility in Pirmasens, Germany. Returning stateside, he operated homebuilding and woodworking specialty businesses in Northern Colorado. Smith was also a 32nd degree Mason.
In recent years, Danny envisioned and created AirGenesis, a wind turbine enterprise, inventing innovative technology that garnered worldwide patents and attention. Within days of his death, he achieved his dream of contracting international rights.
Danny was an avid and lifelong hunter, angler, and outdoorsman.
Danny is survived by his daughter Shauna Troxell, son-in-law Clayton Troxell, and granddaughter Isabel Troxell, all of Fort Collins, CO; son Tyler Smith and grandson Asher of Greeley; and brother Michael Smith of Arizona.
Smith was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Celebration of life will be held in Wheatland, Wyoming and a private inurnment will be conducted at Mizpah Cemetery in Platteville on October 17, 2017 at 12:00 pm.
