Obituary for Alvin Baker
Alvin Eugene "Gene" Baker went to his Lord on October 9th, 2017. He was born on March 11, 1929 to Len and Nervie Baker in Goodlett, Texas, and was one of 10 children. Gene grew up in Texas, where he met Virginia Harris and they married on November 22, 1947. They had 3 children and moved to Boulder, CO in 1962.
Gene began a career in the automotive field. With hard work and determination he built "Gene's Continental Coach" into a business that provided a great life for his family. In his youth he was a semi-professional baseball player. He was also a semi-professional gambler - where he WON regularly. But he was always a professional Dad!
Gene Loved to travel; throughout his life he visited 48 states, 12 countries, and 25 islands. He always had stories to tell about the amazing places he'd seen.
In July of 1990 his beloved Virginia died after 42 years of marriage. Gene later married Janet Adams on September 16, 2000. They shared many adventures together over the past 17 years and renewed their vows to one another last month. Gene was a wonderful, caring man, with a great sense of humor.
Gene is survived by his wife Janet, 3 children: Kay Tuttle, Randy(Julie) Baker, Kathy(Dennis) Nelson. Grandchildren: Brett, Andrea, Jessica(Carlos), Keith(Samantha), Michael(Nutsara), along with step-daughters Nancy & Grace. He also has 11 great-grandchildren. He was much loved and will be sorely missed.
Memorial Service will be at 10:30am on Monday, October 30, 2017 at Trinity Episcopal Church- Chapel, 3800 W 20th St, Greeley, CO 80634.
