The lighting of a Memorial Candle not only provides a gesture of sympathy and support to the immediate family during their time of need but also provides the gift of extending the Book of Memories for future generations.
It is with great sorrow that we announce the death of our precious son, Zachary Joe Schmitz. He was 23 years old when he died of suicide on the evening of January 30, 2018. He was born June 15, 1994 in Greeley, Colorado.
He was so handsome, so funny, and so brilliant! He was a talented auto mechanic and was a genius with anything mechanical. He was a passionate young man, his amazing smile and his enthusiasm for life and for fun will be missed by so many!
He is survived by his mother, Emmalee Shoup and his step-father Bill Shoup. His father, Larry Schmitz and his step-mother Michelle Schmitz. His sister Gabrielle Jurgens, His brother Derek Schmitz, and his sister Erin Schmitz. His step-brothers; Guy Shoup, Garrett Shoup and Glenn Shoup. And his step-sisters Emma Miller and Amanda Shultz. He was engaged to be married to the love of his life, Michayla Sibal.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather Alvin Schmitz, his grandfather Jamie Ortega, his brother Marc Schmitz, and his dear friend Chuck Schnuerle.
His celebration of life will be Friday February 9, 2018 at 11:00am. We will meet at Island Grove event center located at 501 N 14th Ave. Greeley, CO 80631.
There is a memorial fund in his name at 1st National bank in Greeley 970-346-5021. If you would like to donate flowers we are using the services of Mariposa florist in Greeley 970-356-1684, he loved the color blue.
