Kathy Anne Schledewitz, 62, of Pierce, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2019. She was born September 7, 1956, in Fort Collins, Colorado to Jack and Dee (Emery) Lawrence and grew up in Briggsdale, on the family ranch. Kathy graduated from high school in 1975.
Growing up on the ranch, Kathys’ love for horseback riding developed and her ultimate dream of becoming a journalist for the Rodeo solidified. Kathy had a strong work ethic and enjoyed various jobs – from working at a family owned Donut Shop, to the Wellington Water District and for Rocky Mountain Pork. For 9 years, Kathy volunteered as a Wrangler with the Greeley Stampede, alongside her best friend, Debbie.
Kathy was a very proud, independent and strong woman that faced various challenges in her lifetime, but her bull-headedness made her a fighter and she faced every challenge head on, not only for herself but for her children as well.
Kathy was best known for having an open door, a listening ear and a shoulder to lean on. Kathy had various interests that kept her busy. She loved the Denver Broncos, crocheting, cooking/baking, word find books, watching wrestling and ranching.
Kathy is survived by her father, Jack Lawrence; her brother, Andy Lawrence and wife Dawn; her daughter, Stephanie (Mike) Felte, her son Dustin (Amber) Schledewitz; her grandchildren, Heather and Allen Felte and Levi Schledewitz; her two great-grandchildren, Abby and Hunter; numerous nieces and nephews, a great niece and great nephew; close family and friends, as well as her best girlfriends; Lynne, Debbie and Joe.
Kathy was proceeded in death by your grandparents and mother.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, April 28, 2019 from 1:00-5:00 at the Nunn Community Center. In honor of Kathy, everyone is welcome to wear Bronco colors.
