Obituary

Malinda Lea Zeisel 63, of Fort Collins, Colorado passed away July 12, 2020 at FairAcres Manor in Greeley, Colorado from a 5 year battle of cancer.
Malinda was born October 7th, 1956 in Dallas, Texas to Dale and Delores Gray, the oldest of two children. At the age of 16, Malinda married Bill Zeisel on August 4th, 1973 in Dallas, Texas and together they had two children, Jason and Brandi. Bill and Malinda moved their family to Leadville, Colorado in 1982 and eventually purchased Burger Baron restaurant and renamed it Wild Bill's. Along with their children, they owned and operated the restaurant successfully for many years. Malinda was the friendly face at the counter when you walked in for lunch, she enjoyed talking with all the customers who would stop in, especially the locals. After the end of their marriage, she relocated to Fort Collins in 2002 to be near her children and grandchildren. Malinda enjoyed her new occupation as a comfort care keeper assisting the elderly and ones with physical limitations in their homes with daily living. She worked in that field until December of 2018 when she was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer after being in remission for two years. Being raised in the south, she had a love for southern comfort cooking which was passed down from her mother and grandmother, her recipes would always please a crowd and her sweet mild southern accent always gained many smiles. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, and a good cup of coffee. Malinda had a huge heart for dogs and cared for so many throughout the years. Sadly, she leaves behind her precious dog Paisley, who emotionally supported her with kisses and cuddles during Malinda's cancer treatments. Malinda was known to all six of her grandchildren as Grandma M, and her kind, patient, loving heart along with her beautiful gray eyes will be greatly missed.
Malinda is survived by her son Jason (Kaley) Zeisel of Fort Collins, Colorado. Daughter Brandi (Greg) Sandoval of Leadville, Colorado. Grandchildren Jacey, Jayla, and Joslyn of Fort Collins, Colorado and Julian, Desmond, and Brendan of Leadville, Colorado. Her father Dale Gray of Buena Vista, Colorado, her sister, Theresa Gray of Dallas, Texas, her nephew Mark, and nieces Jessica, Courtnea, and Lauren. Malinda was preceded in death by her mother Delores Gray.
A private memorial will be held. Online condolences can be left at ncccremation.com.

My mom's will and determination to fight the cancer left me in awe of her. For five years she had to fight to live. She had so many appointments, hospital visits, surgeries, being constantly poked, examined, having scans and x-rays done , she never complained, although occasionally she was disappointed in the meals being served though....but who wouldn't be.

I will miss her laugh and smile. She always seemed so happy when we would go out to eat and she tasted her wine, then smile and say "oh that is so good"
