It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Larry Lee Heins (Greeley, CO), 72 years old, who entered into rest, at North Colorado Medical Center, on October 7, 2020.

A celebration of life service will be held at a future date. The family respectfully requests that in lieu of any flowers, memorials in Larry’s honor may be made to the American Cancer Society.

He was born on June 21, 1948, to Jennie and Frederick Heins, in Wray, Colorado. He entered the U.S. Marine Corps in 1965 at the early age of 17. He served in the Vietnam War, as one of the proud and the few, based out of Camp Pendleton, California. He spent most of his years as a communications technician when he returned from the war, running his own business and later working for various phone companies. On August 19,1978, he married Karen Barrett, recently celebrating their 42nd anniversary. Being an avid hunter and fisherman, he loved spending his time in the great outdoors and exploring nature from the comfort of their RV over the years. He always enjoyed a good western and spoiling his nieces and nephews.
Larry is survived by his wife, Karen Heins of Greeley, CO; brothers, Fred Heins of Kansas, Delbert Heins of Washington; sisters, Elvina Prentice of Colorado, Theresa Hatch of Illinois; sister-in-law Carol (Bob) Taylor of Arizona; brother-in-law Dwight (Jenni)
Barrett of Nebraska; Nieces and nephews, Melanie (Bob) Wells, Gayle
(Jason) Hibner, Joshua Barrett, Joel (Gabrielle) Barrett, and Amy (Ryan) Biggs;
and great nieces and nephews, Dustin, Emily, Wyatt, Waylon and William.
He was preceded in death by his parents Frederick and Jennie Heins of Kansas; brother, Everett Heins of Nebraska; and sisters, Margaret Scott of Florida, Janice Cochran of Kansas, and infant sister of Colorado.
