Obituary of Dorothy Jane Marcy

Dorothy “Jane” Marcy, 79, of Greeley, Colorado, died Thursday, April 14, 2022, at the Northern Colorado Medical Center.  She was born on September 21, 1942, in Medicine Lodge, Kansas, the daughter of Horace “Lynn” Randels and Margaret Zoe (Davis) Randels. 

 

Jane graduated from Medicine Lodge High School in 1960 and started studying at the University of Kansas that fall.  In 1962, she transferred to Phillips University, in Enid Oklahoma. In 1963, Jane married Donald Lee Myers, and thereafter she finished her education and obtained her teaching degree from Kansas State University.  Don and Jane moved to Greeley, Colorado in 1966 where they had a son, Michael Andrew Myers, and a daughter, Lori Ann Myers. In 1990, Don lost his life in an airplane accident.

 

In 1991, Jane married her beloved husband, Dewey Raymond Marcy. They found sanctuary in the home Dewey built for them east of Greeley, Colorado.  Jane enjoyed teaching elementary school and bible studies. She also supported the Galeton Post Office, and spent her time volunteering for organizations that assisted less privileged individuals and families.  Jane loved her church and her church family. When not working to support others, you would find her riding her horse, gardening, tending to all types of animals, or writing letters to her family and friends. 

 

Jane is survived by her brother, Robert Lynn Randels, her husband, Dewey Raymond Marcy, her daughter, Lori Ann Weiser (Steven), and her cherished grandsons, Max and Seth Weiser.  She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law. 

 

Jane was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, and her precious son.

 

A memorial service will be held on May 4, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., at the Living Water Fellowship, 402 11th Street, Greeley, Colorado.

 

Inurnment will follow this summer in Medicine Lodge, Kansas.
