Candy. You were the absolute perfect partner to my brother Nathan and I am so grateful that you became a member of the Schackel family 25 years ago. I can still recall so many fun memories from that wedding. I have long admired your strength of character and dedication to social justice. You have helped so many people and animals - too many to count. There isn't a single thing you couldn't make with a crochet hook, sewing machine or stained glass tools. You loved hard and the family and friends you loved never ever had to doubt how you felt about them. Thank you for introducing me to the fabulous pie place on the way to Estes Park and thank you for hobbling along with me after finishing the Bolder Boulder - a highlight my trips back to Colorado. Reina and I have imagined that you are together with my dad and updating him on everything in your definitive style. This dream makes me smile. I thought we had more time with you, dear. Time for more trips to the Oregon Coast. Time for more visits to the Denver Art Museum.
You were a woman with a strong faith who put that faith into action and this verse from 2 Timothy is very fitting for your life.
Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing."
I'm sure your crown of righteousness has flamingos on it - and maybe a sticker or two from Dutch Bros.
