Brad Lee Brotemarkle, 74, of Platteville, CO passed away on November 2, 2023. He was born on May 29th, 1949, to Alan and Dorothy (Garrett) Brotemarkle in Greeley, CO.
Brad graduated from Valley High School in 1967 and was a standout on his basketball team that went 17-1 in his senior season. Brad was also the top drag racer in the state, racing anywhere from Cheyenne, WY to Raton, NM in a Plymouth Road Runner, and a Hudson Hornet.
Brad was drafted into the army and served in Vietnam from 1969-1970 receiving a Purple Heart in the process. After returning from the war, Brad owned a parts store in Ft. Lupton, CO, and drove trucks for many companies. He also became a great dirt track stock car racer, racing at Colorado National Speedway, Rocky Mountain Raceway, and I-76 Speedway. Nobody could fly on the high side like Brad.
He is survived by his partner, Rena Boetz; mother, Dorothy; his brother, Todd (Marcia); his nephew, Blair (Tara); niece, Quinn (Aaron) Benson; his great nieces, Sloan Benson, Baylor Brotemarkle and Briar Brotemarkle; and great nephew, Boone Benson.
He is preceded in death by his father, Alan; and his grandparents, Earl, and Maude (Sarchet) Brotemarkle and Roy and Bernice (Ingersoll) Garrett.
Military Honors will be at 12:15pm on December 14th. Graveside services will follow at 1pm at Mitzpah Cemetery in Platteville, CO.
